Individuals with hypochondriasis have an increased risk of mortality

Mataix-Cols et al. (2023) compared 4,129 individuals with a diagnosis of hypochondriasis with 41 ,290 demographically matched individuals without hypochondriasis in Sweden. They found that individuals with hypochondriasis had an 84% higher risk of all-cause mortality.
